Stress And Inflammation Are Strongly Related

Is there really any connection between stress and inflammation, or it this an over-hyped concern that has no merit?

Not only is the answer to this question a resounding yes, it is one of the leading causes of several of the most common and debilitating diseases and conditions to our age group.

In fact, as we all begin to age, this is one condition that we really need to guard against and think twice about using too much Omega 6 fatty acids.

Stress And Inflammation

However there is also an interesting connection between stress and inflammation; not all of it bad.

When we get an injury like a small cut or some type of infection, our immune system immediately springs into action.

It sends this agent too instantly fight any type invading force such as bacterium or virus that can and often does make us sick.

Once it does its job, it will naturally subside and your body will begin its natural healing process.

If this is the case, why is considered to be such as threat to us.

Here are some of the reasons.

  • There are times that it does not subside
  • There are times when it is sent and there is nothing to fight
  • If this occurs, instead of protecting us, it attack us

The increase in blood flow and warmth associated with it is also part of the healing process, but at times this can work against us.

The link between stress and inflammation continues with what it actually is.

When it occurs, the chemicals located within our white blood cells are released, and are sent to our blood and the affected areas that have been damaged.

Its main objective it to protect us from any type of foreign attack and once it arrives, your affected area will turn red in color and will feel very warm.

However, there are times when some of this chemical may leak into the actual affected area, which will immediately result in swelling.

This leakage can also cause pain, and if the number of cells and the inflammation increases, it can also affect our joints.

However, there are certain conditions such as arthritis, where our immune system sends this protective agent to fight invaders, and there aren’t any.

This is referred to as an “autoimmune disease” where our body is basically attacking itself and this is what makes stress and inflammation such a threat to all of us as we get older.

Diseases It Can Trigger

This natural response that is intended to protect us can also make it the leading cause of numerous and life threatening disease and conditions, and this is why it is such a threat.

In fact, the majority of the medical communities agree that if is not for inflammation, several of the following diseases would not exist.

They include some of the following.

  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Celiac Disease
  • Congestive Heart failure
  • Fibrosis
  • Heart Attacks
  • Kidney failure

This is just a sample of the conditions, as there literally twice this number.

Symptoms To Watch For

There are several symptoms that we can watch for with stress and inflammation. and they include the following.

  • Red and swollen joints that are warm if you touch them
  • Joint pain as well as stiffness
  • A slow developing loss of joint functions

However, in some cases, especially as we begin to age and our immune system is slowing down, we may also experience even more symptoms.

They include the following

  • Fevers and chills
  • A sudden loss of energy
  • Tightening of our muscles
  • A loss of appetite

These symptoms as well as the extensive list of diseases, is where the connection really begins to come together and here is why.

In several recent studies referenced below, researchers have found that chronic stress is very closely related to this process.

Common Links

Here are some of the most common links

  • Stress—has now become one of the leading, if not leading cause
  • Environmental factors from both food, some nutrients,  and metals
  • Too much sugar and fat in our diets.

As we age our bodies begin to lose the ability to regulate it properly, and as delicate as this process is, that can be very scary for us in our “golden years”.

The last thing we need as we get older is another challenge with this delicate process, and there are also other things that may trigger it.

Sugar at our age can be very dangerous, and this is yet another reason why.

Added sugar causes dehydration, which can and does trigger this agent to attack as does the loss of sleep.

But there is some good news with stress and inflammation, as there are several natural and easy things we can do to fight back.

Ways To Fight Back

They include the following.

  • Go outside and exercise—this accomplishes two things
  • Control any type of unneeded pressure
  • Control your weight
  • Increase Omega 3 fatty acids
  • Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables

Vitamin D, naturally from sunlight, is one of the best things you can do.

However, when you combine it with walking, swimming, Tai Chi, or any type of exercise done outside, this helps to control it.

In fact, outside of reducing unneeded pressure, it is one of the best things we can to fight it naturally.

Any excess weight at our age is never good, and this is another reason why. It puts “unneeded pressure” on our body in several ways.

In the connection with stress and inflammation, the link with bad and good cholesterol is another example.

Omega 6 fatty acids are the bad form, but Omega 3 fatty acids are the good form. They help to naturally control our white blood cells in this process.

Omega 6 fatty acids trigger them in several ways.

Fruits and vegetables are also very instrumental as they are jammed packed with anti-inflammatory agents such as magnesium and carotenoids.
